Notgrass History offers U.S. history, world history, geography, government, civics, and economics curriculum. We offer a variety of resources for first grade through high school. Our curriculum gives students a rich, meaningful study from a Christian worldview. We provide narrative lessons, full-color photographs and illustrations, primary source documents, and hands-on activities to create engaging learning experiences.
Our lead curriculum developers are Ray and Charlene Notgrass. Ray holds a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degrees in history and New Testament. He served as a minister for 22 years and has extensive experience in teaching and communication. Charlene holds a bachelor’s degree in political science. She has extensive experience developing educational material for children and families. They are also veteran homeschooling parents.
Textbooks provide context and comprehensiveness. Unit studies provide depth and richness. In our curriculum, we bring these two approaches together by giving you tools that help you teach the hearts, souls, and minds of your students. Our curriculum is convenient for teachers, requiring minimal planning and preparation. Our curriculum is rewarding for students, helping them learn to analyze the present by understanding the past.
We did not design our curriculum to align with any state or private standards (such as the Common Core State Standards or the College Board AP standards). However, experience shows that our curriculum prepares students well, whether they intend to go to college or take another path after high school. Students have passed CLEP and AP exams after using Notgrass History as a foundation.
Through Notgrass History curriculum, your students will visit exciting places, meet fascinating people, and learn important life lessons to strengthen their walk as disciples of Christ.
Feedback from Educators
I asked the children what their opinion was, and they all agreed it’s very easy to understand and has great review lessons. We look forward to using Notgrass for years to come.

The layout is easy to follow and workable within a school’s daily time frame. Our middle schoolers are engaged with their lessons and the teachers enjoy teaching the truth.

We have been impressed with the compilation of original sources and documents, which allow the children to understand history through the words of the people that actually made history themselves.
